2017 Audi R8 Release Date, Changes

The Audi R8 was first unveiled in 2006. The supercar has been an excellent vehicle in terms of power and speed. It has taken a leading in the world of exotic cars, but it is facing stiff competition from some top-quality new-comers. The German automobile manufacturer is planning to refurbish its model in order to stay on top of other competitive cars. The new 2017 Audi R8 has already been announced at the Geneva Motor Show. It will come with innovative features in all areas. From exterior and interior to powertrain and drivetrain, the new 2017 Audi R8 will get serious modifications that will make it a true hypercar. 2017 Audi R8 – Stylish Exterior Design:

The new 2017 Audi R8 will use Lamborghini Huracan platform to design, but will employ its Audi Space Frame concept to construct it. There will be the use of aluminum monocoque and carbon fiber. These materials are expected to make the new 2017 Audi R8 lighter and faster than the outgoing model. The cab will be pushed forward while the coupe body will be made to slope backward forming an arch. The body will also be glazed by elegant horizontal lines, made to boost the sporty appearance of the car. In addition, there will be wider shoulders on the sides.

The front fascia of 2017 Audi R8 sports car will feature a flatter and wider trapezoidal grille, well-positioned air ducts and LED headlights with a wedge shape. On the other hand, rear fascia will carry a large spoiler, well-designed exhaust system and large diffuser. In order to improve the speed-efficiency, the automaker will add more aerodynamics features to the new R8. More exterior features include redesigned mirrors and durable 20-inch alloy wheels.

The Audi R8 interior will stand out with Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery among other classy materials. Seats will be adjustable and power-heated, making them very comfortable. The new Audi R8 will feature a very powerful and fuel-efficient powertrain. Two engine options will be available. The first one will be a 5.2-liter FSI Quattro V10, capable of generating 530 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a 7-speed S-Tronic semi-transmission. The new model 2017 Audi R8 will have an all-wheel drive and is expected to obtain 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds with this engine. Top speed is expected to be 198 mph.

The other engine will be a 5.2-liter FSI Quattro V10 Plus, capable of generating 560 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a 7-speed S-Tronic semi-transmission. The 2017 Audi R8 will have an all-wheel drive and is expected to obtain 60 mph in less than 2.7 seconds with this engine. Top speed is expected to be 210 mph.

U.S. EPA has estimated the fuel consumption of new model to be around 12 mpg in city and 19 mpg on the highway. The two engines are expected to be more environment-friendly. Carbon emissions will be reduced significantly according to the EPA.

2017 Audi R8 – Pricing and Competition:

The price for Audi R8 with standard equipment will be around $117,000, for V10 will be 158,000, and for V10 model will reach $185,000. The mid-engine exotic car will be released in the US by the second half of 2016. Most markets outside the US will get the new Audi R8 in early 2017. Main competitors of the new model include Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 650S, Chevy Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper, Ford GT, Acura NSX, Porsche 911 Turbo and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT.
